What do you get that hard to buy for person? What`s the perfect gift for an elderly single person? Christmas gifts in a jar are the perfect solution because all of the dry ingredients are already included. Your recipient need only add the liquids (which they probably already have on hand), mix and bake. So simple, so tasty! 3/4 cup all-purpose flour 1/2 teaspoon baking powder 1/8 teaspoon baking soda 1/8 teaspoon salt 1/3 cup granulated sugar 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips 1/3 cup packed brown sugar 1 cup quick or old-fashioned oats 1/2 cup of peanut butter or butterscotch chips In a small bowl, stir together the first four ingredients. In a 1 quart glass jar layer the ingredients in the following order: granulated sugar, chocolate chips, brown sugar, flour mixture, oats, peanut butter or butterscotch chips. Tap the jar gently on your countertop between each layer for even settling. Attach the following directions to the jar before giving: Baking Directions: Preheat oven to 375. Empty the contents of the jar into a large bowl. Add 1 stick of softened butter, 1 slightly beaten egg and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract. Mix well. Drop heaping teaspoons of dough onto non-greased cookie sheets, allowing two inches for spreading. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, until edges are lightly browned. Cool on wire rack. Makes 2 dozen.
